Fight For Them

I am easily distracted.  I chase lots of squirrels.  Yesterday morning was really bad.  I began to read the Word, without praying first, and I read a chapter then stopped and moved on to something else.  I checked the box and went squirrel hunting, figuratively not literally since it was still dark.  This morning I begin praying before reading and God convicts me about yesterday, I confess and ask for forgiveness and pray that He opens my heart and mind and ears and then began to read.  Wow what a difference surrender makes.  I read 5 verses and He spoke to me through His Word.

I began reading Colossians yesterday, remember checked the box read chapter 1, today I read chapter 2:1-5.  As I am reading these verses God lays something on me.

I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.

I do things for the church, not as enough, but when was the last time I complimented someone on their faith and walk with Jesus?  Paul is fighting for those he has never met and I have trouble fighting for those I know and love!!!!!!!  Paul understands encouragement.  Paul knes its power to change people’s lives.  We should chase after the lost and rejoice when they come home but we should also rejoice when the found have faith.  When they choose God over the world.  I am not very good at this.  I must be better.  People are people.  I love encouragement, it strengthens me and keeps me going, why wouldn’t others feel the same way????  They do knucklehead!!!!!!! I should be spending as much tie and energy edifying, uplifting, and encouraging as I do running into people’s hell on earth to show them the love of Jesus!!!!  Will you be an encourager today?  Tell someone how well they are doing in their walk with Christ.  Love them like Jesus.
