No Light Shines Here

That day held
The final hour
Our Mother’s ambivalence
Lost in conclusion

The clock tower rings
Thunder sounds
A black shadow looms
The dusk of man

An angel of death appears
Shrouded in the splendor
Of finality and the unknown
She unfurls her wings

They paid their tax
With one last breath
Before forever
Remaining still
