Let’s get down to the unshakable, ground truth. NOTHING can separate us from God’s love.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35-39
this is how He loves us. He’s never-changing love. there is nothing you can do to make Him love you more, and there is nothing you can do to make Him love you less either. His love for you is infinite. Period.
He loves us because we are created by Him, especially in His image. in His image He created men and women. that’s how precious and valuable we are in Christ. He doesn’t measure our ‘good works’ to decide whether or not He will love us. He loves us because. period.
before we dive into the very discovery of my life, we need to be grounded in this truth – that God loves us no matter what we do or don’t do. even sin couldn’t stop Him from loving us (Romans 5:8) – that’s why He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to come and save us, so there won’t be any separation between us and God again (Romans 5:9).
friends, this is so important. your entire life should be built on this rock. now, i’m gonna pray for us to see the mind-blowing discovery i found this week. Father God, i pray that each and everyone who’s reading this will be grounded in the unchanging truth that You loved us while we were still sinners, and Your overwhelming love for us won’t change, ever. prepare our hearts to receive whatever You have for us in the next few paragraphs. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen.
okay, so i was struggling few days ago, having the lie that Jesus doesn’t want to heal my physical body and that He loves other more than He loves me. boy, was that a HUGE lie. if you ever feel this way, remember that’s not true.
but the question still stays… God, will you heal me? do You want to heal me? how should i react if You choose to don’t heal me? or how should i react if you do choose to heal me? *for those who didn’t konw, i’ve just recently been diagnosed with a heart issue that is most likely caused by some unknown allergic reaction.
and then i made a decision to stop thinking about whether He would heal me or not, because it only made me question His love for me and His goodness. so i chose to turn on some worship songs, calm myself down, sing praises to Him… because He deserves it. and then it clicked.
God. GOD of the universe who made everything by words. deserves my praises and worship WHETHER OR NOT He chooses to heal me. God loves us for who we are, not for what we do. if He loves us for what we do, He isn’t love after all because we would all fail Him. and the beautiful thing is this: GOD who is mightier than anything in this world, INVITES us to love like He does. He wants us to love Him back for WHO He is, not for WHAT He does.
surely, we praise Him for what He does – it’s a good thing and God calls us to do it as well. but i think when our lives are at low points, when we can’t really see the light in the tunnel we are in – will we still choose to praise God and love Him for who He is and not for what He does?
“Even When It Hurts” is the song that speaks to me the most nowadays, along with “Defender”. the first song is about praising Jesus and loving Him despite our circumstances.
“even when it hurts like hell, I’ll praise you” … would you? this lyric reveals the fact that Jesus is ultimately the most important thing and that life’s essentiality is Him alone. it also reveals how much we know Him; His goodness, His faithfulness, and also His worth.
i take this as an invitation to be more like Jesus. He calls us to love the way He does – to love a person who they are and not for what they do. isn’t this so difficult? it’s already difficult to love God for who He is, how can I love others for who they are when in fact we are all sinners?! yet, this is how great His love is.
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17-18
now, to give you and i some hope, real, solid hope, i’m gonna give you the lyrics for “Defender”. it goes “when I thought I lost me, you knew where I left me. You picked up all the pieces, and put them back together. You are the defender of my heart” the good news is this – who God is will never, and i repeat, NEVER let us down! God is love. and He is faithful. we can trust Him with everything, absolutely EVERYTHING.
so remember when i said i don’t know if God will heal me? well, i believe He will, at least i choose to. and even if He doesn’t, i know i will still be carefully taken cared of. and i will go to heaven one day, see Him face to face and say “God, You indeed never failed me, not once”.
i leave you with a challenge and a verse. would you love God for who He is, and not for what He does?
“And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.” Matthew 11:6
