Crying Without Tears

The brow furrows,
The mouth, neck and face constrict.
The tears well but never break.
Always reabsorbed.

Quiet, no audible sounds,
Until a single, deep breath…
Steadied by the exhale.

A tightening of the chest,
And every once in a while, a lurch, in the
Stomach.

In through the nose, out through the mouth,
In… out… in…. out… Inhale peace, exhale joy.
There is no path to happiness,
Happiness is the path.
