The Great Divide

The great divide
That happens when
Hearts are cold
And minds are closed
No way to talk
Or move the soul
Whose emotions are
Steeped in a poisonous sludge
That clings to each and every cell
And builds upon itself
To make a wall
That cannot be scaled
Saving grace
And kindness sweet
Are needed now
Compassion melts
The ice that forms
And finds a way
To build a bridge
Over the wall
That separates
And divides us all
