The One Thing

“ONE THING I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek:

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life,
To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord
And to meditate in His temple.” (Psalm 27:4 AMP)

We all have choices to make in front of a buffet of opportunities. We all have desires that delight us. We all have plans to fulfill and goals to meet for this year. But ONE THING NEEDFUL AND NECESSARY is to “seek the Lord and His strength and to seek His presence continually.” (Psalm 105:4)

To seek Him first is to acknowledge Him at the onset of the day and in every endeavor we are about to indulge ourselves in. To seek Him continually doesn’t mean that we are to be in our prayer closet 24/7. I believe it’s most effective when we become more aware of His presence as we look at the beauty around us … the birds, the trees, the mountains, the beaches, the skies, the moon, the sun, the stars, etc. More so, when we look at the people around us who are created according to His image and likeness that we get privileged to add value to their identity by treating them the way we ourselves want to be treated. All these get our focus zeroed in into being diffusers of His love and stewards of His presence where the atmosphere is impregnated with righteousness (Him making right what is wrong in our lives), peace and joy. He is indeed a rewarder of those who seek Him. He rewards us with capacity to be like Him in the earth, not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God.

May we be like Mary who was found to be seated at the Lord’s feet and was CONTINUALLY listening to His teaching. We may do what we have been designated to do with our responsibilities in life, but not to such extent of being so consumed, busied and distracted that may cause us to be worried, bothered and anxious about so many things. Let us not forget the ONLY ONE THING that is necessary and that is to choose the good part of seeking the Lord’s face in prayer, requiring His presence as our greatest need and necessity in the authority of His word which is for our own advancement and benefit that will not be taken away from us.

The height of our breakthroughs is determined by how deep we go with our intimacy with God. When we are rooted and grounded in His love for us, only then He can take us to the highs that is measured by the sturdiness of our firm foundation in Christ. The beauty of our fruitfulness lies in the depth of our roots that is growing deep, spreading and seeping from the river that flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Therefore, we don’t go for the things, but we seek Him first and ALL these things shall be ADDED unto us.

“But FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SEEK (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right – the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” (Matthew 6:33 AMP)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, take me deeper into the glory realms of Your love that I may be rooted and grounded in it. When I pass through the waters, You are with me, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm me. When I walk through the fire, I will not be scorched for I will not fear, with a confident knowledge that You have called me by name and I am yours completely. Your love that fills me with the richest measure of Your divine presence will cause me to overflow and diffuse your kind of love to those who are hungry and thirsty for it that they may TASTE AND SEE THAT YOU ARE GOOD. Thank You that it is not by might nor by power, but by Your Spirit O Lord that will accomplish it in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
