The horizontal part of the cross cannot stand by itself without the vertical part. This only means one thing, that our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (vertical) is of vital necessity to our relationship with others (horizontal).
How do we value others? I believe this is only effectively possible when we see, know and feel that we, ourselves, are valuable. How then do we value ourselves? It is when Someone GREATER saw us valuable, Who demonstrated our value by giving up His own life to win us with His love.
“For God SO GREATLY LOVED and DEARLY PRIZED the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that WHOEVER believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” (John 3:16 AMPC)
Jesus endured the cross for the JOY that was set before Him that the very moment. He cried out “IT IS FINISHED!”, the veil was torn supernaturally from top to bottom so that you and I can come near Him, be WITH Him and IN Him, just as He can be WITH us, dwelling IN US.
Intimacy is His ultimate goal. This is the reason why the devil is up to destroy our union and communion with Him by distracting us with busyness, sickness, lack and broken relationships to name a few, because once we get connected to Him and have a revelation that there is NOTHING and NO ONE can separate us from Him and His love, it magnanimously affects our relationship with others.
Why is the enemy after people’s separation and division? Why is he whispering lies trying to undermine the truth of Who Jesus is? It’s all because the exceeding greatness of His power comes when we’re united in the love of Christ. He knows that we become unstoppable to love others when we are empowered by His love in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The whole world is groaning for the revealing sons of God who love like Jesus loves. It is a kind of love that is unfailing, unmoving, undeserving and unconditional. Left on our own, it is impossible. But with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
The secret is … KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED! KNOW THAT YOU ARE VALUED! How God sees you affects how you see others! How He values you affects how you value others! How He loves you affects how you love others! It all starts with you being a RECIPIENT first before you becoming a GIVER. It begins with you being LOVED first before becoming a LOVER! You simply cannot give what you do not have. Our identity in Christ is the key.
“God NEVER overlooks a single one. and He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail – even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. YOU’RE WORTH more than a million canaries.” Luke 12:7 MSG
