Ever Said Something You Regret?

I know you would never forgive me

The look on your face stood testimony to that

But you didn’t understand

The reflection I saw of myself in your eyes is not one I recognize

The poisonous words that dripped from my lips had intoxicated my mind

My limbs moved out of my control as if the puppeteer of my life suddenly needed a taste of blood

No, I have no excuse
But one day when the colour of the sky turns red

And all I see is white

Let the sourness in your mouth fade and your wounds heal

Please punch holes in your memories and never let them be whole again

For I am a sheep in wolves clothing

I am a fraud

Because the villainous role I have taken up is a lonely one

And I can no longer inflict any pain

My only hope is that you one day forgive me

A beautiful poem.
Like reading the beginnings
. . . of wisdom.
