All the love you wasted,
Would you ask for it back?
Or would you want them back?
Think about it.
About every person you’ve ever loved.
Would you take them back
If they walked into your kitchen
With a heavy heart
And a bouquet of your least favorite roses?
Would you welcome them with open arms
And fill a vase with water for the flowers?
Or would you bid them farewell
For the safety of your own heart?
I know I’d give them coffee
And another chance to destroy me.
Because, isn’t that love?
Giving someone the power
To obliterate all that is left of me.
And maybe even press the roses in my diary.
