India have won the ODI series against South Africa 5-1. The major reason behind this victory is the prime touch of their captain Virat Kohli. Throughout the series, he batted exceptionally well and won every match he could, for his nation. Virat and his boys ultimately ended up winning the series with Virat scoring a mammoth 558 runs during the course of it. He just took 47 days to cross 500 runs in a calendar year in ODI’s by an Indian. He broke the previous record of 69 days taken by Sachin Tendulkar to achieve the milestone in 2003. Virat, with 558 runs under his belt, became the highest ever run-scorer in a bilateral series breaking Rohit Sharma’s record of 491 runs against Australia in 2013.
Virat gave his fans another reason to crush over him.
While speaking to the media after the match, he thanked his wife Anushka Sharma. He said, “My wife has been keeping me motivated throughout. She deserves a lot of credit for this. She has been criticized a lot in the past, but she is one person who has kept me going throughout this tour and when times have been tough and I am really grateful for that”.
Anushka Sharma has been on the receiving end every time Virat has failed to score runs. I haven’t understood how, and why Anushka is held responsible for his bad time in the middle, but what Virat did yesterday has left all the haters with their mouths shut. He has always proved himself every single time he has come out to bat. And every time he has scored a century, or won a match for India, Anushka has been a constant in his life. Why isn’t she given the credit for his big scores? Why is she held responsible for his bad day in the field?
With that statement, Virat did answer quite a lot of questions and arguments. This shows how big a support he has in the form of Anushka and also, how much he appreciates it.
