Yuvraj Singh & Chris Gayle – The men we all hail

As the auction for Ipl season 11 just came to an end, it was just one man everyone’s eyes were on. Not for buying this time, but for making sure if he will play or not. Chris Gayle ! He has been the highest run-scorer across 10 seasons of Ipl and when the auction started for the Ipl season 11, everyone thought that it would be him that every team would look for. But surprisingly, that was not the case. In the first round of auction, the big man went unsold. No one showed interested in him. No one started the bidding. It was shocking. A man of his stature is expected to be sold at a high price, irrespective of the form he is in. But for some reasons unknown, he was not sold. He came in the second round again, and still remained unsold. Just as the auction was about to end, and we thought that this time the Ipl will not have its entertainment king, Kings XI Punjab bid for the giant and got him at the base price of 2 cr. It was not that no one else wanted to bid for him even in third round, but no one could. It was just KXIP who had enough amount left in their purse to bid for a player. No one else had sufficient funds.
No matter how many mistakes KXIP made in the auction buying the likes of Karun Nair and a few more for foolishly staggering prices, it was two players that they bought with whom they can justify their stupidity. They got the two big players in the form of Christopher Henry Gayle and Yuvraj Singh at their base prices which was quite an amazing bargain for players of their caliber. If not great, KXIP has ended up with a good squad this time around. Yuvraj and Gayle may not be in the form of their life, but being in the team, they do bring a lot of experience and fear for the opposition they are playing against. They have that ‘X-factor’ that a team needs. And on their day, they have the skill to take away a match single handedly from any opposition no matter how good a bowling attack they have.

Totally unprofessional; Trying to figure out what writing is all about; I am just a name.
